Admin-Walkghrough - Including Dos and Don'ts

If you are a local node administrator that co-manages Sunet Drive, you will get access to certain configuration settings. Here is an overview of the Dos and Don’ts for those settings. These settings apply to Sunet Drive based on Nextcloud v26.

Setting	Comment	Dos	Don’ts
Overview	The read-only configuration has been enabled. This is by design to prevent undesired changes in the node configuration.	Contact drive@sunet.se if you see messages about missing database index entries.	DO NOT update Nextcloud. This will be handled by Sunet.
Support		Generate system report if necessary	DO NOT contact Nextcloud support directly. Please contact drive@sunet.se if necessary.
Basic Settings	Basic Nextcloud settings are managed by Sunet.		DO NOT change cron or SMTP settings. Please contact drive@sunet.se if necessary.
Sharing	Most settings can be overridden by the individual user settings.	Change sharing options	DO NOT change federated sharing options. Please contact drive@sunet.se if necessary.
Security	Most settings are handled via Sunet. Password settings only apply to local user accounts (i.e., non-SSO).	Enforce two-factor authentication for other (local) groups.	DO NOT enable server-side encryption. Please read the guide here: Encryption best practices in Sunet Drive
External Storage	Main functionality of Sunet Drive.	Change folder name Change “Available for” to assign to users	DO NOT add own external storage DO NOT remove entries DO NOT set “Check for changes” to “once every access”
Theming	It is recommended to set the test environment to a different distinct color.	Change colors and logos	DO NOT upload background images bigger than 2 MB
Groupware	Not used in Sunet Drive
Administration Privileges	New in v23. Cannot be used to delegate “external storage”	Give certain admin rights to groups of users
Activity	Default already sends as little notifications to users as possible. This can be overridden by individual user settings.	Change activity and notification settings

Usage Survey	Sunet does not send usage surveys to Nextcloud
Logging	Please contact drive@sunet.se if you need access to full logs. Logs displayed are only for the connected frontend server.	Identify simple errors
System	Some values displayed here only apply to the connected frontend server.	Get an overview about the system, including number of users, database size, frontend server load.	Please contact drive@sunet.se if you need advanced monitoring, including syslog integration.
