Transfer of ownership of data residing in home folder

In some cases it might be necessary to transfer files residing in the home folder of a user to another user. This can be done with the help of the Sunet Drive support team. Please open a ticket by sending an e-mail to drive@sunet.se and include the following information:

  • Username of the user to transfer the data FROM
  • Username of the user to transfer the data TO

After the support team initiates the ownership transfer, the receiving user will then find all files in a subfolder starting with “Transferred from…” and includes the original user and a timestamp. A transfer of ownership

  • persists local shares: incoming and outgoing local shares are persisted
  • persists outgoing federated shares: shares SENT to other nodes are persisted
  • DOES NOT persist file versions
  • DOES NOT transfer incoming federated shares

Note: The transfer includes all folders and files residing in the home folder, and excludes folders and files assigned via S3 buckets. A partial transfer of folders or files is not possible.
