App Essentials¶
This page is an overview of apps that provide essential functionality to Sunet Drive, including current plans to rollout new apps. If you are looking for the detailed documentation of all apps, head to the Overview of all Nextcloud Apps. All Sunet Drive nodes come with the same list of installed apps and there is a recommendation whether an app should be active or not. Local institutions can opt to activate or deactivate certain apps for their node.
While many apps show as a menu entry, some apps will add contextual functionality, such as Collabora Office Integration or Checksums. In general, there are the following types of apps deployed with Sunet Drive:
- Nextcloud Server - Developed and packaged with the server part of Nextcloud
- Nextcloud Core - Developed as separate app by Nextcloud, but comes packaged with the Enterprise deployment of Nextcloud
- Enterprise - App development by an external corporation
- ScienceMesh Collaboration - Apps developed in collaboration with the ScinceMesh consortium
- Sunet Development - App development by or commissioned by Sunet
- Community App - App developed by members of the community, but deployed through the Nextcloud app store
